Collaborative Family Law Solicitors

Collaborative Family Law is a way of resolving disputes respectfully, without going to court.

Couples involved can set the agenda and control the decision making so creating ‘fair’ solutions that match the family’s priorities.

Using this process, you each appoint your own collaboratively trained lawyer, then both of you and your respective lawyers meet to work things out face to face, with all agreeing to work together as a team to resolve issues without going to court. There is a full disclosure of financial information and there are ‘face to face’ four-way meetings (2 of you and 2 lawyers) to reach a settlement, with your lawyer providing support and legal advice throughtout the process.

Our lawyers are trained and qualified in Collaborative Family Law to resolve disputes where possible.   They belong to Resolution, an organisation which believes that a non-confrontational approach to family law issues produces better outcomes for separating families and their children based on:

  • Reducing or managing any conflict and confrontation; for example, by not using inflammatory language.
  • Supporting and encouraging families to put the best interests of any children first.
  • Listening to and treating everyone with respect and without judgment.
  • Helping you balance financial and emotional costs with what you want to achieve.

There is a regional Resolution Collaborative Law group covering Salisbury and the surrounding area whose members include collaboratively trained solicitors and financial planners.  You can find out more about the local Collaborative Family Group at https://cfsfamily.co.uk
